    Mexico announced import timber plant quarantine regulations – will come into force on July 2, 2013.

      Mexico environment and natural resources Committee on March 4 issued a revised new timber plant quarantine regulations. NOM-016-SEMARNAT-2013 standard will replace Mexico ten years ago, the Government issued a standard, and will come into force on July 2, 2013. Imported wood without bark and any quarantine pests, phytosanitary measures must, in accordance with the food and Agriculture Organization article 12th attached export quarantine certificate issued by a country's national phytosanitary protection organization. Wood will be in Mexico ports of entry subject to quarantine, if quarantine pests are detected, all of phytosanitary measures to be taken.
    Air-dried wood, wet wood or raw materials importers were asked exporters to implement a phytosanitary measures, including no less than 56 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes under conditions of heat treatment or methyl bromide fumigation according to certain specifications. On the phytosanitary certificate must contain a statement, claiming that the wood bark and free of quarantine pests and undergo phytosanitary treatment, while for the kiln-dried wood, its statement of the phytosanitary certificate must show that the wood bark and free of quarantine pests, and dried in a kiln.
